Meet Our Alpacas
Alpacas are our passion
Based in Wicklow, we are on an Alpaca journey. We are a full time alpaca enterprise. We rely on the alpacas, and they rely on us. We have researched the market thoroughly and have identified over 50 income streams from alpacas. We are happy to share our experience with anyone else starting out.
Learn moreMeet the gang
Alpacas are amazing animals, they are intelligent, inquisitive and quirky. Here at K2Alpacas we know all our alpacas by name, we know their individual personalities and moods. Like ourselves, they have pals, and guys they don’t get on with, they squabble and make up. This is what makes life interesting at K2Alpacas as every day is different. Even spending a short time with our alpacas, you will see their different personalities and how endearing they are. It is easy to see why they are a big attraction.
Here we introduce you to some of our alpacas.
Boys
Learn MoreBig Ted
Our Big Ted is a poser. He loves attention. He will often stand and not move unless we go and give him a hug. When he gets his hug he skips off happy with himself. Sometimes we think that Big Ted thinks he’s a person and not an alpaca.
Learn MoreLittle Ted
Little Ted is brilliant, He is cute and fluffy and is amazingly calm. Nothing phases him. Sometimes when he attends Weddings or Montessori Schools people think he’s a statue or he’s not real because he stands so still. We Love him.
Learn MoreTom
Our Tom is quite quirky. We lovingly call him Tubby Tom as he likes his food. Tom is brilliant with everyone. He loves meeting people and is great as a therapeutic alpaca. Kids and adults alike can hug him and he senses that love and does not react and accepts the Love.
Learn MoreChristian
Christian is a grey alpaca. He is the boss. He looks after all the other boys and is always first to check out any activities in their paddock. He’s very curious and we always have to keep an eye on our tools as he is very likely to go off with anything that is not tied down.
Learn MoreBarry
There is always one troublemaker. Our Barry is constantly getting up to mischief. We affectionately call him ‘Biting Bum Barry’ as he bites the bums of the other alpacas (not us). You will often find him with a mouthful of alpaca fibre (wool).
Learn MoreLuigi
Luigi is a Suri alpaca and looks like a Rastafarian. Luigi’s fibre hangs down in dreadlocks. He is as steady as a rock and loves our treks. We shear our Suri alpacas every 2 years whereas the rest are shorn ever year.
Girls
Learn MoreMinerva
Minerva is simply amazing. The first day she arrived she accepted a halter and walked on a lead with no training. She is the matriarch of her group and allows everyone to get up close and give her hugs.
Learn MorePippa
Pippa is like her mum Vanda. She is a very affectionate alpaca. And loves attention. She is a pushy little thing and from day 1 had no fear of pushing any older or bigger alpacas out of her way. She loves her food.
Learn MoreClassic Touch
Classic Touch can be a quite scary alpaca if you did not know her. She will charge at you, stamp her foot and click at you. She is the matriarch and tells us what we can and can’t do. We respect that. I would be confident that she would give up her own life to save the others.
Learn MoreAbervail
Abervail is our drama queen. She’s a glass half full type of girl and always worries about the worst that will happen. Despite her drama queen antics, she is a great walker. She would be very protective of her cria (babies).
Learn MoreAmy
Amy is a National Brown Champion and is a lovely chocolate colour. She has beautiful eyes and eyelashes to die for, as does her son Maverick. She loves her food and is very food driven. When she was young she surprised us be delivering a cria (James), we did not know she was pregnant.
Learn MoreSarah
Sarah is the daughter of SallyMolly, she has amazing fibre and is covered in ringlets like a little version of curly doll. She is amazing as she is very accepting of people. Come visit us to hear the heart-warming back story on how she got her name.
