Inclusive Experiences for Everyone
At K2Alpacas and K2Cottages, we are committed to ensuring that all our visitors enjoy the peace, tranquillity, and amazing Wicklow Mountain scenic landscapes the farm has to offer. We recognize that accessibility is essential for creating inclusive experiences.
Below, we provide information for visitors with special needs, including those with sensory and physical disabilities, parents with small children in pushchairs, and individuals for whom English is a second language.
Planning Your Visit
Our booking system and our Booking Manager allow customers to inform us of any specific needs ahead of your visit. We are here to help and will do our best to accommodate any requests to ensure your experience is enjoyable and fulfilling.
Accessible Facilities
The farm is suitable to accommodate visitors with physical and sensory disabilities.
Farm Ground Surfaces:
The farm features a combination of surfaces that are buggy and wheelchair accessible, including smooth stone, sand paths, gravel, tarmac, concrete, and grass.
Fairy Trail:
Our Fairy Trail is buggy and wheelchair friendly and features soft audio playing in the background.
Farm Shop:
Our Farm Shop is wheelchair and buggy accessible.
Toilets:
Toilets are located on flat concrete surfaces. Please note that our toilets are not fully wheelchair accessible.
Alpaca Activities
Alpaca Walks
Alpaca walks are suitable for most people as they proceed at a gentle pace. However, these walks are not suitable for people with mobility issues, buggies, or wheelchairs. Walkers should ideally have both hands free.
Meet and Greet and Therapeutic Services
The farm is wheelchair accessible for our Meet and Greet and Therapeutic Services.
Alpaca Temperament:
Our alpacas are safe to be around; they have a mild, curious nature, cannot bite, and have soft padded feet. All sessions are conducted with a trained supervisor. Due to their gentle nature, the alpacas are suitable for therapeutic work with adults and children with special needs and indoor visits to care and nursing homes.
Personal Support and Sensory Needs
Personal Support: We encourage visitors to bring a friend or caregiver to assist them during their visit (a small carer fee is charged).
Sensory-Friendly Options: For those with sensory sensitivities, we can offer private or smaller group sessions (no more than six attendees) to create a more comfortable environment and provide one-to-one attention.
K2Cottages Accessibility
Ground Access:
Two cottages have ground access, and three cottages have a single step up, for which a ramp can be provided if required. Two cottages have multiple steps up and are not suitable for wheelchairs.
Interiors:
All cottages are open and spacious and feature walk-in shower rooms with non-slip floors.
Cottage 6 (The Sheep Shed):
This cottage has a wheelchair-friendly shower with a swing-out side.

Public Transport Directions
Take the Bus Eireann 133 bus and ask to be let off in Newtownmountkennedy at the Park View Hotel. You can also get the Go Ahead Ireland Route 184 from Bray or Greystones. We are located 4.5km from the Church. You can arrange for a taxi to collect you from Newtownmountkennedy, please see list above.
The TFI Local Link Route No 183 runs from Arklow to Sallins and passes by close to us. Ask the drive to get off at BallyDuff Cross and walk towards Newtownmountkennedy to find us on the left.

Google Maps, SatNavs or Apple Maps can take you on unsafe roads. Best directions are:
Heading South from Dublin
on M11/N11 take Exit 12, signposted Newtownmounkennedy. Turn right at Church (The Church will be on your right). Follow road, go straight through roundabout, past GAA pitches on right & continue up the hill for 4.5 km. Continue to top of hill, opposite a left-hand turn signpost, is a small cul-de-sac (lane). Turn right here to arrive at our gate.
Heading North towards Dublin
on M11/N11, take Exit 16 R772 for Ashford and follow road into village. Use your SatNav from here. After you cross over the bridge, take a left at the roundabout. Follow this round for 6.5km, take a right at Ballyduff Cross, signposted for Newtownmountkennedy L1051 road. Approx 2km just after a Y in the road you will see a left turn into a lane. Turn Left this will bring you to our gate.
